Privacy policy
Effective date: 30 October 2026
AI Chat Exporter is a browser extension and website (aichatexporter.website) provided by Truedon Digital Solutions, Kenya (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information the extension and the website handle, where it goes, and the choices you have.
The short version: your chats are read and exported inside your own browser and are never sent to us. We have no analytics, no ad trackers and no advertising, and we never sell data. We only keep the details needed to deliver a Premium licence: your email, your plan and the devices using it.
1. Your chats stay on your device
- When you export, the extension reads the conversation from the AI site open in your browser and builds the file (PDF, Word, Markdown, HTML, JSON, text or picture) on your computer.
- Exported files are saved to your Downloads folder, or to a folder you choose.
- The chat library, folders, tags, saved prompts and settings are stored in your browser’s own storage (IndexedDB and the extension storage). If you turn on your browser’s sync, your browser provider may sync some settings between your own devices. We cannot see them.
- To export your whole history, the extension uses the AI site’s own pages and your existing sign-in on that site, from your browser. Nothing passes through our servers.
- We never receive, store or read the content of your chats, prompts or files.
2. What the extension sends to us
The extension only contacts our billing server for these Premium tasks:
| When | What is sent |
|---|---|
| You start a purchase | The plan you chose and your email address |
| You return from payment | A one-time claim code to collect your licence |
| You enter a licence key in Settings | Your email, the key, a random device ID and a label like “Chrome on Windows” |
| Once a day while Premium is active | Your licence key and a random device ID, to check that the licence is valid |
| You remove a device | Your licence key and that device’s random ID |
| You use “Forgot your key?” | The email address you type |
The free version does not contact our servers at all.
3. What we store on our billing server
Our billing server runs on Cloudflare (Workers and a D1 database stored in Western Europe). It stores:
- Licences: email address, licence key, plan, expiry date and when it was created.
- Orders: plan, email address, a scrambled (hashed) copy of the claim code, the Pesapal tracking number and the order status.
- Payments: the Pesapal tracking number, amount, currency and payment method type (for example “M-Pesa” or “Visa”). We never receive your card number, PIN or mobile money PIN.
- Devices: a random device ID created by the extension, a label such as “Chrome on Windows”, and when the device was first and last seen.
- Abuse protection: short-lived counters made from a scrambled (hashed) email address or an IP address, used to limit repeated “Forgot your key?” requests. They are deleted after one hour.
4. Companies that help us
We use a small number of service providers, only for the purposes below:
- Pesapal (Kenya) processes payments by card, M-Pesa and other mobile money. Pesapal handles your payment details under its own privacy policy.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and our billing server.
- Resend sends our emails: your licence key, renewal confirmations and key recovery emails.
We do not sell, rent or share your information with anyone else, except if the law requires us to.
5. This website
- The website has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies.
- Cloudflare, our host, processes the technical details every website receives (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks.
- The Contact and Report a problem buttons open your own email app or Gmail with a message addressed to us. Nothing is sent until you press Send, and we only receive what you choose to send.
- The admin area of the blog uses a login cookie for our own staff only. Visitors are never given cookies.
- Your browser remembers, on your own device only, whether you chose dark mode and that you closed the privacy notice. We never receive this.
- Blog articles may contain links to other websites, which have their own privacy policies.
6. Browser permissions the extension uses
- Access to the websites you visit: to read chats on supported AI sites (and articles you choose to export), and to show the export button and the chat outline on those pages. The extension only acts on a page when you use it or when you have turned on a feature such as automatic backups.
- Tabs, tab groups, scripting and side panel: to find the chat you are looking at, open a folder as a tab group, and show the extension’s panels.
- Storage: to keep your settings, library, folders and prompts on your device.
- Alarms: to run automatic backups and the daily licence check.
- Context menus: for right-click actions such as “save selected text as a prompt”.
- Debugger: only to ask Chrome’s own PDF engine to print your export as a PDF file.
- Offscreen documents: to build files such as Word documents in the background.
- Downloads and clipboard (optional): requested only when you first use a feature that needs them.
7. How long we keep information
- Licence, order and payment records: for as long as your licence exists, and afterwards as long as needed for tax, accounting and legal reasons.
- Device records: until you remove the device or the licence is deleted.
- Abuse protection counters: one hour.
- Emails you send to support: as long as needed to help you, and then deleted.
8. Your rights
Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 and similar laws where you live, you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted. You can also object to how we use it. Email us at support@aichatexporter.website from the address you bought with. Deleting your licence data ends the Premium licence linked to it.
If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the GDPR gives you further rights, such as data portability and complaining to your local data protection authority. Our GDPR page explains them, and the legal basis for each thing we do with your data.
You can remove the extension at any time. Removing it deletes the data it stored in your browser. Export your library first if you want to keep it.
9. Children
AI Chat Exporter is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
10. Security
Connections to our servers use HTTPS. Licence keys are checked on the server, claim codes are stored only in scrambled (hashed) form, and access to the database is limited to us. No method of storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect the little information we hold.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we will also say so on the website.
